“Out of Stage, a title that refers to works conceived for places and situations other than those offered by traditional stages, sketches out a wide perspective of contemporary music theatre and the role of new technologies, of multimedia, that includes the programming of virtual and augmented reality applied to sound, in new forms and genres codified by the composers involved in the Festival.”

The catalogue of the Biennale Musica 2022 opens with statements by the President of La Biennale di Venezia Roberto Cicutto and the Artistic Director Lucia Ronchetti.
The book continues with the motivations for the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement award to Giorgio Battistelli and the Silver Lion to the collective Ars Ludi, and a series of essays by Helga De La Motte, Stefano Nardelli and Guido Barbieri, which discuss their biographies and their works.
Analytical essays by Stefano Nardelli, Paolo Da Col, Björn Heile and Marco Cosci explore the themes of the Festival.
The catalogue continues by presenting the performances, the Lectures and the projects of the Biennale College Musica following the daily schedule of the Festival.
The catalogue of the 66th International Festival of Contemporary Music is enriched by the illustrations of Lucio Schiavon. Evoking the title of the Festival, the figures in nuances of black, red and blue seem to want to leap off the white pages and slip between the lines of the scores reproduced in the book. For each performance, there is a list of the composers, musicians and performers with their biographies. There is also a short introduction to the work curated by the artists and the librettos with the texts of the compositions.
Among the activities of the Festival, the catalogue features a note dedicated to the ‘Premio della Giuria degli Studenti dei Conservatori italiani’.
The book contains information about the Round Table dedicated to contemporary musical theatre and the cycle of music lessons Lezioni di musica, the programme broadcast by Rai Radio 3 live from Ca’ Giustinian.
One section of the catalogue is dedicated to Echi di Choruses, detailing the “journey” undertaken by the new works commissioned and performed during the Biennale Musica 2021 “beyond the Festival in collaboration with the composers and other European concert institutions and radios”.
The catalogue ends with the daily presentation of the complete Schedule of the 66th International Festival of Contemporary Music.
