THE STAR WITHIN
The catalogue of the Biennale Musica 2025 opens with the introduction by the Presidente of La Biennale di Venezia Pietrangelo Buttafuoco and Artistic Director Caterina Barbieri which present the programme and artistic directions of the 69th International Festival of Contemporary Music, with an article dedicated to the Biennale College Musica 2025.
The volume continues with the motivations for awarding the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement to Meredith Monk and Silver Lion to Chuquimamani-Condori. They are followed by essays written by Andrea Lissoni, Chuquimamani-Condori, Laurie Spiegel, DeForrestBrown, Jr., John Brien, Moor Mother, Lyra Pramuk and Federico Campagna, which further explore the works and themes of the Festival.
The catalogue presents a chronological programme of the Festival with the performances, installations and projects of the Biennale College.
For each performance, in addition to the list and biographies of the composers, musicians and performers, there is a short introduction to the work written by the artists.
The book also contains information on the ‘LSD Centre, a space dedicated to deep listening, encounter and exchange – hosted in the heart of the Arsenale – where they can meet, rest and dream together through Meredith Monk’s and Maxime Denuc’s audiovisual installations, and a rich programme of live performances, listening sessions, talks and contributions from the protagonists of The Star Within.
The volume continues with the biographies of the artists and the day-to-day presentation of the Journal Calendar of the 69th International Festival of Contemporary Music.
